So, I figured that its about time I add a little April love to my website journal. I’m sorry to say that most of my internet interaction has been taking place on myspace these days. I’ve kind of become a junkie for myspace. There are now pages for all of my current projects including Beat the Donkey, Ruby Rosa, and Agora Quartet. All in my top 8!
I’m writing right now from a Holiday Inn. I’m in Richmond, VA on the 4th day of a tour with BTD. I joined the guys 5 days ago in Charlotte NC after spending a week in Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico was amazing. I will be posting some pics here as soon as I get them home. I was there for 4 days of total R&R. I put the guitar down and went to the beach, ate great meals, and spent time with a few of the people I love most in the world. Marie, Tyler, Mom, and I had a great time snorkeling, exploring, and bathing in the sun. I’m not really into the idea of “vacation.” I’ve fought the concept with the strong argument that making a living playing music is the ideal vacation. Still, it was great to take a few days to move at a slower pace and sharpen my hustling saw. Now back in action, I’m more ready than ever to pursue my musical goals.
The touring has been tiring but fun. I want to thank all the friends who showed up in Charlotte and Charleston. We had shows that left a great impression of the south on my fellow donkeys. The festival in Shakori Hills was really incredible. We were joined by an excellent sound engineer, Steve Beatty. He had our monitors sounding great when we took the stage in front of 1,000 plus festival fans. We’ve all lost our voices at this point, but we’ve been making a strong impression. Tonight we play in Richmond and tomorrow we head home.
Next weekend BTD is playing a great World Music Festival in Lafayette, LA. The following week I will be back in the south with the amazing Krystle Warren. I hope to see you there. As always, thanks for checking in with me. Stay in touch.
