September was jammed packed with BTD tour dates in the Chicago area, NYC residencies, and planning for the new recording. In the city, I’ve been enjoying my resident restaurant performances at Cafe Moto (4.5 yrs), BOOM (4yrs.), and Anyway Cafe (2yrs.). These venues have provieded me with excellent opportunities to work up new material and refine my chops. Musically I’ve been very inspired by bluegrass music again and besides writing my own tunes I’ve been learning lots of fiddle tunes, folk songs, and generally laboring over Tony Rice’s guitar work. Tony is unbelieveable. You’ve gotta check out this youtube video of Church St. Blues.

Tony is so relaxed and consistent. That crosspicking is a serious challenge and Tony doesn’t break a sweat. Anyway, enought geeking out on Tony.

I had another great show at the 55BAR. I’m very excited about the new material. Singing and songwriting is really helping me to grow in different directions. Hopefully I can finish 2 CDs before the new year.

Thanks for checking in with me.

Best,

Clay
